Trị liệu bằng tia laser là phương pháp điều trị sử dụng ánh sáng tập trung để tác động lên chính xác vùng bị bệnh mà không gây tổn thương cho các vùng xung quanh.

1. Trị liệu laser là gì?

Ánh sáng laser là một loại ánh sáng rất đặc biệt. Không giống như các nguồn sáng khác, ánh sáng laser có thể được điều chỉnh bằng các bước sóng rất cụ thể. Trong y học, tia laser cho phép các bác sỹ phẫu thuật làm việc một cách vô cùng chính xác. Tia laser có thể tập trung vào một vùng rất nhỏ và rất ít khi gây ra tổn thương cho các mô xung quanh. Những bệnh nhân được điều trị laser có thể ít bị đau, ít bị sưng và sẹo hơn các bệnh nhân sử dụng các phương pháp phẫu thuật truyền thống khác. Tuy nhiên, điều trị bằng tia laser rất tốn kém, và có thể phải điều trị nhiều lần.

2. Trị liệu bằng tia laser được dùng để làm gì?

Trị liệu bằng tia laser được dùng trong rất nhiều loại thủ thuật. Tia laser được dùng để:

  • Tiêu diệt các khối u hoặc các sự phát triển tiền ung thư
  • Giảm các triệu chứng ung thư
  • Loại bỏ sỏi thận
  • Loại bỏ một phần tuyến tiền liệt
  • Điều trị bong võng mạc
  • Cải thiện thị lực

Tia laser còn có thể dùng để đốt:

  • Các đầu dây thần kinh, để giảm đau sau khi phẫu thuật
  • Các mạch máu, để ngăn chặn mất máu quá nhiều
  • Các mạch bạch huyết, để làm giảm sưng và hạn chế sự lây lan của các tế bào khối u

Theo Viện Ung thư Quốc gia Hoa Kỳ, tia laser có thể rất hữu hiệu trong việc điều trị ung thư giai đoạn sớm, ví dụ như:

  • Ung thư cổ tử cung
  • Ung thư dương vật
  • Ung thư âm đạo
  • Ung thư âm hộ
  • Ung thư tế bào đáy của da

Khi sử dụng để điều trị ung thư, trị liệu bằng tia laser thường được áp dụng với các biện pháp điều trị khác, ví dụ như phẫu thuật, hóa trị hoặc xạ trị.

3. Lợi ích của điều trị tia laser

Có rất nhiều lợi ích của việc trị liệu bằng tia laser, phổ biến là:

  • Tia laser chính xác hơn so với các cách phẫu thuật truyền thống. Vết cắt cũng có thể sẽ ngắn và nông hơn, do vậy, ít gây tổn thương đến các mô hơn.
  • Thời gian phẫu thuật thường cũng sẽ ngắn hơn so với các cách phẫu thuật truyền thống. Bệnh nhân cũng thường chỉ cần điều trị ngoại trú và không cần phải ở qua đêm trong bệnh viện. Nếu cần phải gây mê, thời gian dùng thuốc mê cũng sẽ ngắn hơn.
  • Bệnh nhân thường hồi phục nhanh hơn, ít đau đớn, ít sưng và ít để lại sẹo hơn so với các phương pháp phẫu thuật truyền thống.
